: type travel tuesday : {quartier latin, paris}

quartier latin, paris

I have taken loads of pictures of pretty/interesting typography on my travels. I decided I'm going to start putting one/some of them up every tuesday because "type" and "tuesday" both start with a "t."  :)

Here is my first installment from the Quartier Latin, Paris.

couture royale

Well, it's the Royal Wedding week! I am SO wishing that I was still in England right now and that Jill and I could stalk the wedding procession like we did the Queen. Or at least that I didn't have to work on Friday,  so I could watch the entire spectacle from across the pond.
Oh bother.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Royal Wedding is THE DRESS! I wonder how Kate's dress(es) will compare to past accoutrements:

holy week

easter_blog
Last year we spent Holy Week in Paris and witnessed a (long and in French but) powerful candlelit Catholic Easter Mass at La Cathedral de Notre Dame.

This year we will be experiencing the Easter celebrations of the Greek Orthodox Church as we visit St. Nektarios with Orthodox friends here in Charlotte. I am excited to see the different ways Jesus' sacrifice is celebrated across the world!

It is Holy Week once again. The pinnacle of human history, God becoming man, plays out its final act.

Sunday: The triumphal entry. Jesus is welcomed into Jerusalem like a king with shouts of "Hosanna!" and the waving of palm branches.

Monday and Tuesday: Jesus takes control of the temple. Teaching that the only way is to trust in Him.

Wednesday: The people turn. This man isn't coming to free them from Rome (but from their sins) and he demands too much.

Maundy Thursday: The Last Supper, the washing of the disciples feet. Jesus showing himself as the servant, the lamb to be slain. The Garden of Gethsemane. Judas' betrayal with a kiss.

Good Friday: Via Dolorosa. Crucifixion. "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

Holy Saturday: Jesus is buried.

Easter Sunday!: Sin and Death have been defeated! HE IS RISEN!!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!

chelsey&jon!

Brandon and I went home to the midwest for Chelsey's wedding on April 2nd. It was a beautiful 60 degrees and sunny despite the forecast for snow earlier that week. The wedding was perfect and Chelsey was glowingly gorgeous! They are SO. IN. LOVE. CONGRATULATIONS love birds!
